"Hit Me With Your Best Shot!" - Sophia Karides

Person

Context: This picture was shot by Jeremie Brilliant of EDM DJ, Alison Wonderland playing a set on August 2nd, 2017. She was kicking off her tour at the Microsoft Lounge in Venice, LA.

Content: It's super awesome to me that one of my favorite electronic artists can inspire other females to get to where they want to be in life. Besides loving her music, she is the first solo female DJ to headline on the Mainstage of EDC (Electronic Daisy Carnival) Las Vegas which is one of the most popular music festival in the United States as well as winning New Artist of the Year award at the Electronic Music Awards. She started out back in 2012 and has only been rising to the top since then.

Form: This photo to me represents a headstrong woman who knows what she is doing and truly enjoys her passion that she loves. In addition to, the impact she leaves on people is powerful because she said that she wants people to leave her shows feeling like they have truly experienced something.

Place

Context: Photographer, Trever Miller shot this beautiful image in 2008. This is the Ashford Castle, on the shore of Lough Corrib (a river) in west Ireland.

Content: This was a medieval castle that turned into a five star luxurious hotel that many go to. It was also own previously by the Guinness Family. The castles in Ireland are so cool because they have so much history behind it. I have always wanted to visit Ireland because it seems so unique and the green grass and castle landscape is gorgeous. Learning more about the history would be very interesting to me.

Form: What makes this photo effective is the way it is showing the leaves on the ground with the subject focus also on the castle. It looks like people are working on something outside of it as well which shows the everyday life on castle grounds. Keeping up the maintenance can be important.

Wild Card

Context: This photo was taken in West Hollywood by Troy Conrad at The Comedy Store. Comedian, Chris D'Elia had just finished a show this night on December 19, 2017.

Content: I love this photo of one of my favorite comedians because I can even feel the energy of what it was like in the room and I wasn't even there. What I interpret is that it is all love in the room and the audience's faces and hands clapping just goes to show how good of a time they had laughing from the show. If someone can go from a bad day to a good day from funny jokes in a second, that is all that matters. Making someones day and putting a smile on someones face is so worth it.

Form: The way the photographer was positioned in the back and got a wide shot with Chris in the middle and the audience looking up at him was awesome because it depicts the energy in the room. The black and white especially makes the photo ten times better.
