Hit Me With Your Best Shot
CONTEXT: This photo was taken at the London Fashion Week at the Ana Hindmarch show. It was the biggest fo the week. The photo displays three models on the day of September 18, 2016. It was captured by Stuart C. Wilson.
CONTENT: So the photographer behind the photo had been rejected entrance to the backstage access of the fashion show. He had the right accreditation and his name was indeed on the list, but security had run out of passes. He found a way into the show because he attended dress rehearsals and knew exactly the shot he wanted to get. With a little dedication he reached his goal.
FORM: I think what makes this photo very interesting is the depth behind it. You clearly see the foremost model, and the form of her face, but you can also see the variety of depth as the other models get further away in the background. Adding to the depth, I believe the contrast of the photo depicts it from any regular form of black and white stills.
CONTEXT: This photo was taken December 13, 2015. It was taken by Sergio Tapiro, who is from Mexico. This picture won third prize in the nature category of the World Press Photo contest. It was title The Power of Nature.
CONTENT: The Colima volcano erupted causing rock fragments to fly along with the flowing of lava. It is very common for this particular volcano to have visits of lightning when erupting. The lightning is cause from things like ashes and ice colliding creating static strong enough for visible lightning.
FORM: This photo holds great beauty. All the way from the stars in the dark sky, until the natural glow of lighting the strike of lightning gives off. I assume this had to be taken at a quick second to perfect catch the frame of perfection. The running lava adds another element of glow into the still image. If we pay a close amount of detail, the stars give off enough light to lightly define the edges of the volcano's sides.
CONTEXT: This photo was taken by SeongJoon and owned by Bloomberg. It was taken on March 16, 2017.
CONTENT: This photo shows a visitor taking a selfie on the observation deck of Lotte Corp World Tower in Seoul. I assume he was visiting from another country. He totally enjoyed the view of the city and had to capture the moment.
FORM: The image give off the great view of the city's top. The natural lighting of the city's view give off a nice defined silhouette of the visitor. The large windows create an illusion of an open space and makes the room seem bigger that what it really is.
