Assignment: Camera Movement - Crotwell Kyle

Context: Director - Marc Webb, Cinematography - John Schwartzman, Year - 2012

Content: Peter Parker suits up to become the iconic Spider-man after his uncle is murdered and being bitten by a experimental spider but finds his true calling when some of that same research leads to a villain known as the Lizard is created and begins to terrorize the city.

Form: The clips shown above shows many different shots in a short amount of time. It switches from Spider-man's view, to the police, to a helicopter, and detached views from no particular person to help give a full range and space of the scene. It seeks to keep the fast pace of the movie as this is nearing the end and it is coming to its climax. I believe these clips show the full range of shots that are being asked for.

1. 1st Clip. Pan Shot: 56s - 2:00. This shows the police moving in to arrest Spider-man and helps show the procedure of them checking their corners and the shear amount of men moving in to apprehend him.

2. 2nd Clip. Crane Shot (Literally): 1:10 - 1:50. A test of the hero's fortitude and ability in the film. The pulling back of the camera shows the amount of distance Spider-man has to cover in a single leap while injured and helps put the feat into context for the viewer.

3. 1st Clip. Handheld/Steady shot: 18s - 25s. This shot gives the effect of moving behind the police as if the camera is one of the men moving in to secure the rooftop and is effective in giving the details of the scenery and keeping the audience involved in the action.

4. 2nd Clip. Drone Shot: 2:23 - 3:08. Used to show the amount of distance Spider-man is able to cover while swinging through the city in a hurry and is probably the best medium to use and show this effect.

5. 1st and 2nd Clip. Wild Card: 1st 5s - 8s, 2nd 2:01 -2:03. Considered to be another handheld shot I think. These shots give the viewer Spider-man's prospective and are some of favorite in the movie. Allows the audience to step into the shoes of the hero and gives you a momentary glimpse of what it might be like to be Spider-man.
