Lighting Assignment - Embed a Clip by 12 PM on Thurs Feb 8

For this week's assignment find a scene in a live action, narrative Hollywood film where the lighting plays a significant role in the storytelling.

Embed the video clip of the scene.

Give some context - who directed, who Dped, year

Give a little content explanation - logline or synopsis

And in a few sentences, explain what is happening with the lighting and its impact on the storytelling (form).


Here's the example that I will use in class:

Film Title: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
Director: Steven Spielberg
Cinematographer: Allen Daviau

Logline: An alienated by bonds with an extraterrestrial child who's been stranded on earth, who with the boy's help contacts the mothership so he can go home.

We'll break down the lighting of the scene in class! (I will break down the warm color temperature, the finger beam, the pools of light, the shadows of the blinds and the way the light is used to create mood, tone and direct your eye... and analyze the use of lighting in service of the storytelling.)
