Marley Blackmon_Researching Camera Movement

1. Pan or tilt shot



Context: Director- Viktor Tauš, Year- 2013
Content: In this scene, the camera turns all the way around onto a man who is cooking breakfast. The phone rings. He answers and speaks in a foreign language. The camera turns all the way back to where it first started at the beginning of the scene. 
Form: This starts and ends in the same place- the yellow frame. The camera moves very slow and steady and is very soothing with all of the sounds and scenery. 

2. Jib/Camera Crane Shot 




Context: Director- MU2 Productions, Year- 2013
Content: This is a behind the scenes look at how the music video "Clarity" was made. It shows the crane going in and out and the screen of what the crane can see. It also shows music video clips during it.
Form: This clip is a video of a video being made. It shows what the crane can see and what is going on outside of the train.

3. Handheld Camera or Steadicam Shot



Context: Director- Alejandro González Iñárritu, Year- 2014
Content: In this scene, a man is walking in a dark alley drinking liquor. He is stumbling around and sad music begins to play. 
Form: In this video, the music and lighting indicates that this is a sad scene. The handheld camera is a really good technique for this scene because he is drinking liquor and the camera is almost stumbling with him. 

4. Drone/ Bird's Eye 



Context: Director- Will Burrad- Lucas, Year- 2014
Content: This is a video of a drone following wildlife in Africa.
Form: In this video, the drone goes above all of the animals and makes it seem like the audience is part of the pack.

5. Wild Card


Context: Published in People's Daily in China, Year- 2017
Content: This is a video of a drone following around tigers when eventually it gets too close and the tigers knock the drone down.
Form: This is a video of a drone/ bird's eye until the tigers snatch it down from the sky.
