Beauty and The Beast

Context: Directed by Bill Condon, Beauty and The Beast is a romantic narrative live-action film remade from the original cartoon version. The film grossed over 1.2 billion, making it the highest grossing live action musical film, and 11th highest grossing film of all time.

Content: This is one of, if not the most classic scene from the Beauty and The Beast movie. With the song, "Beauty and The Beast" playing as Belle and the Beast dance in his ballroom to absolute extravagant interior designing and lighting, it makes this moment from the Disney classic completely magic-filled.

Form:In the first couple shots of the scene, Belle is shown with a very subtle angelic glow in her bright yellow ballgown. The dim lighting around her accented with lit candle lighting easily makes her the center of attention and look exquisite. The shot goes to the Beast for a moment, then back to a close up on Belle with soft front lighting creating a very subtle shadow on the left side of her face, making her look absolutely stunning. The entire dancing scene is in a pretty dark ballroom but lit only by all of the chandeliers and animated characters. As the music becomes louder and more powerful and the dancing becomes more confident and fluent between the characters, the lighting in the room brightens and adds a lot of happy feelings and positive attitudes towards the scene. When the lyrics stop and only a symphony is played and the Beast dips Belle, the lighting goes from the yellow candlelights to a very dark blue reflecting on both of the characters. After the dip, the Beast picks up Belle and the lighting in the room becomes completely magical. The chandeliers are lit but not like they were before. This time there is red and blue and green colors and they look like stars in outer space or another galaxy and it is incredible to look at. Once the music slows down again, the lighting goes back to how it was in the beginning of the dancing scene, and the scene fades out with the music ending and them walking outside.
