Cinematography of "Get Out"
Film Title: Get Out
Director: Jordan Peele
Cinematographer: Toby Oliver
It was released in 2017.
CONTENT: In this scene the main character asks his girlfriend for they keys to their vehicle. She searches for them restlessly before she finally reveals that everything that he endured in the previous days was a scheme. Her family is surrounding Chris before they finally circle up and attack him. Chris quickly catches on, but as soon as he starts to fight back, he is instantly hypnotized and out into a sunken place of which he cannot return.
The lighting in this scene is very realistic. We get nice effects like the reflection of the fire in the father's glasses. We get the dark mood that is in the foyer surrounding Chris. We have Rose's (His girl friend) parents stepping out of the darkness into a light. The shadows in the darkness added a really cool effect. The surrounding rooms are filled with lamps EVERYWHERE! Even though these lamps are surround, the Director of Photography continued to keep a nice balance of light with the mood of the scene. Rose is left in the neutral, light blue mood until she climbs down off of the stairs. Everything about this scene is just breathtaking -from the plot, down to the colors.
