2) MUSIC VIDEO AESTHETICS blog post - due by 12 PM on Thursday, January 25
Pick a genre of music or category such as "Top 5 Pop Hits" or "#1 songs," then find and watch music videos for:
a) a video made in the 1980s
b) a video made in the 1990s
c) a video made in the 2000s
Write a post sharing your research, that gives a little:
a) CONTEXT - when it was made, who made/directed it, if it's a major label or indie release, etc
b) CONTENT - the plot / theme / story of the video
c) FORM - anything technical like interesting framing, composition, camera movement, style of editing, use of color, production design, etc. Include at least TWO or THREE SCREENSHOTS of each video to illustrate what you are discussing.
and
d) some OBSERVATIONS about the AESTHETICS ("the look"), storytelling, filmmaking, style, culture, story about media or media-making being told or anything that seems of significance to you
Your post should include an EMBEDDED video clip where possible, or a screenshot. If you don't know how to do this, here is a HINT: click on the HTML tab (next to Compose) and copy and paste the EMBED code which you can find when you click SHARE on YouTube.
If you are still confused, here is a tutorial on embedding photos and videos into your blog post.
Please post this assignment by 12 PM on Thursday, January 23.
